Blade Runner 2049 Practice Paragraph || English

During English, we've been writing some practice paragraphs about the Emanator scene in Blade Runner 2049 using the SEXXY format. Hopefully, it makes sense! Feel free to write feedback.

Statement:

In the scene where K gifts Joi the emanator, aspects of colour and music are used together effectively.

Evidence:

For instance, this is presented right when K enters his apartment. His apartment is greyish in tone and very lifeless including K himself, quite literally. Once he goes in, he plays Frank Sinatra before we see Joi for the first time. This is interesting because music such as this is typically older, and in those years can be associated with the colours of black and white in television. These shades obviously lack colour and can also be presented as lifeless, aligning with the real environment K is living in.

Explanation of director’s purpose:

The purpose of this was to emphasise the lack of vibrancy in the current environment, as there is hardly any life actually living on their version of Earth. This makes us remember that the world isn’t treated nicely currently, there is pollution, things are dying.

Explanation of effect on audience:

These aspects help the audience understand that the characters’ lives are definitely impacted by it being a society where things are mostly dead and there is no great quality of life for them. The lack of colour is helping the audience sympathise with the absence of what would have been wondrous.
