Part Three: Transit || Unwind || English

In the course of the book, Connor and Risa get separated from Lev, who travels for a time with another character. Why do you think Shusterman chose to split the narrative into two distinct threads? What do you think this achieves? How does this affect the evolution of the characters?
It allowed for Lev to have some charater development with Cy-fi instead of sticking with Risa and Connor the whole time. However, Risa and Connor gain a bad image of Lev after what he has done. On p125 & 129  the novel touches on same-sex relationships. Has the attitude toward same-sex couples changed (for better or worse) in this futuristic society? Explain your response.
It hasn't really changed, but it wasn't really explained how Cy's dads got mmarried when it was stated that it was illegal for men to get married by Lev. However, being 'mmarried' must be a different concept compared to actual marriage.
P130 begins our journey into understanding a little more about Cy-Fi. Through his character, what do you learn about the effects of unwinding on both the donor and receiver?
When you get a part of an Unwind, that part of them can also add onto their personality or muscle memory etc, so if you get someone's arm, it could remember what the arm could do through muscle memory.
What is the real reason Cy-Fi need to get to Joplin, Mo? Pg 131
Lev suspects that Cy needs to go to Joplin to track down his birth mother or a girlfriend moved there.
What is the significance of Connor holding in his anger around Roland? Pg 147
Connor holding his anger is significant because he is, in fact, listening to Risa while it seems like he wouldn't.
Connor's anger and lack of impulse control is often a problem for him, until he learns to control and channel his emotions. Do you ever feel like your impulses are stronger than your will? What strategies do you use to control your feelings? Do they work?
I don't ever really feel like my impulses are stronger, so I don't really have any strategies to control any feelings.
